If you’re a fan of the Real Housewife franchise, you known Vicki Gunvalson. She’s the only real housewife to ever appear on all seasons of her city’s show, and she is the original real housewife. She’s from Orange County, the place in which the franchise got its start, and she’s the ‘oldest’ wife around. She’s the original housewife, and she has no reason to let people forget that. Back for yet another season, she’s someone we get to watch with regularity, but she’s not someone we know everything about. Despite watching her kids grow up, her marriage end, her friendships suffer, and hearing her “Woo Hoo” her way across the world with her costars, we still don’t know all there is to know about Gunvalson, which is why we did a little digging to share some little-known facts about the reality star with her fans.

She didn’t want to Film with Her Boyfriend

Everyone knows she’s dating Brooks Ayers, the man her daughter – and many other wives- hate, but she didn’t want to film with him and make it public. However, Bravo threatened to give her a much smaller role in the show if she did not. So she chose her role over her personal life. It seems to us that choosing to keep your job rather than your private life private seems a bit strange, especially considering all the drama that the boyfriend brings around.

Most people wonder just how much Gunvalson is worth with her show, her successful insurance business and everything else. Her net worth is an approximate $7 million, which means she is doing quite well for herself. The vast majority is from her business, too. Her assets were divided after her divorce in 2010, but she’s still worth a substantial amount.

She Blames her Divorce on Reality Television

The star claimed that she felt her divorce would not have happened if she had not been on reality television, claiming that she felt the pressure pushed her away from her husband. She felt he could not handle it, and their 16-year-marriage ended.

She’s Not Paying Spousal Support

There was some ongoing belief that Gunvalson would pay spousal support to her ex after their divorce was finalized, but she did not have to. However, she was awarded nearly $1 million in assets, as well as their $2 million home in which she resides. However, if her income changes dramatically in any way, she will be asked to pay support to her ex-husband in an undisclosed amount.

She was Married at 21

Most people know that her kids, Brianna and Michael, were not the children of her ex-husband, even though they had a close relationship with Donn. Gunvalson was married when she was 21. She described her marriage as abusive, which is why she left with her kids. The marriage lasted 8 years, from 1983 to 1991, and even though she was abused, she decided to stick around for her kids.

Her Children have Other Siblings

Despite the fact that they don’t have much of a relationship with their birth father, Gunvalson’s children have other siblings thanks to their father. Last year, tragically, their 14-year-old half-brother was killed when he was hit by a train after allegedly trying to get as close as he could to it to take a selfie. The news came not long after her daughter gave birth to her second child, and it was a tragedy for the entire family even though they did not know the boy very well – nor have they ever had contact with their birth father according to the family.

Vicki has opened up about the fact that after her boyfriend was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, her oldest and dearest friend from the show did not reach out to her to ask if there was anything she could do, or to even say sorry. But that doesn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who watches the show. Barney hates Brooks Ayers, the businessman with whom Gunvalson has been in a tumultuous relationship for several years, and some have even speculated that he is faking his diagnosis to get people to feel sorry for him.

It’s not just her daughter that hates Brooks, it’s her son, too, according to sources close to the family. The reasons are all over the place, but it’s well-known that they believe he is just using her to become famous, and that he has some serious financial issues he wants to be with her to take care of. The family does not like Brooks, and they have yet to come around from their dislike to give him another chance.

She and Brooks are Living Together

It’s been a long and bumpy road for the pair, but it appears that they are happily together, living in her home in California, and they’ve been doing so for well over a year now. It must be easier on their relationship to have her daughter, Brianna, living in Oklahoma with her sons and her husband, who is in the military. The couple faced a lot of adversity, broke up for some time and were even dating non-exclusively for a while. It appears, however, that they are happily dating and together at the moment.

Her Daughter Found out Brooks Was Living with her in an Interview

When Gunvalson did an interview with a magazine, she announced that she and Brooks Ayers were living together for some time – almost a year. She admitted that they’d been together all that time and that they’d been working to keep their relationship to themselves, and that even her daughter in Oklahoma did not know her mother was living with Brooks, but that she would find out about it after she read the interview. They’ve agreed to disagree on the subject, but it seems to us that finding out your mom is dating someone and living with them in the paper is a bit much.
