Trent Reznor is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer. He is the lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, principal songwriter, and founder, of industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails. Atticus Ross is also a member of the band. The two have scored many films and television programs; Trent and Atticus won the Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Social Network and Soul, the latter also with Jon Batiste. At the beginning of his career, he was a member of synth-pop bands Option 30, The Innocent, and Exotic Birds. Trent is also a member of post-industrial supergroup How to Destroy Angels, along with his wife, Filipino-American singer and songwriter Mariqueen Maandig, and Alessandro Cortini, Ross, and Rob Sheridan.

Trent is the son of Nancy Lou and Michael Reznor. He was raised mostly in Mercer, Pennsylvania, and grew up partly with his maternal grandparents. He has deep roots in the state. Trent and Mariqueen Maandig have five children.

Trent’s patrilineal line can be traced to John Reznor, who was born, c. 1745, in Germany.

Trent’s paternal grandfather was George Watson Reznor (the son of George Foster Reznor and Dorothy Perrine Watson). Trent’s grandfather George was born in Pennsylvania. Trent’s great-grandfather George was the son of George W. Reznor and Alice Amanda McKinney. Trent’s great-great-grandfather George Reznor founded the Reznor Company, a heating and air conditioning manufacturing company, in 1888. Trent’s great-grandmother Dorothy was the daughter of Winfield Scott Watson and Charlotte Hannah Perrine, whose mother was English, from Nottingham.

Trent’s paternal grandmother was Helene Patricia O’Mahoney/O’Mahony (the daughter of Michael Joseph O’Mahoney/O’Mahony and Margaret Ellen/Nellie Jennings). Helene was born in Pennsylvania. Michael was born in County Cork, Ireland, the son of Michael O’Mahony and Mary. Nellie was the daughter of John S. Jennings and Margaret Hurley, both of whom were the children of Irish parents.

Trent’s maternal grandfather was William Paul “Bill” Clark (the son of Uriah Supplee Clark and Ellen Agnes Hurley). William was born in Pennsylvania. Uriah was the son of William Clark and Mary Ann Supplee. Ellen was the daughter of Irish parents, Thomas Hurley and Mary Shannahan.

Trent’s maternal grandmother was Clara Belle Fetterolf (the daughter of Glenna Rodgers/Rodger Fetterolf and Maude Mae Hollibaugh/Hollobaugh). Clara was born in Pennsylvania. Glenna was the son of Jacob Fetterolf and Elizabeth Ann McCaughtry. Maude was the daughter of James J. Hollibaugh and Sarah Arbuckle.
